Mike Barton – Managing Director at B&B Attachments wins FLTA’s Services to the Forklift Truck Industry Award

The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) awarded the Services to the Forklift Truck Industry Award to Mike R. Barton, Managing Director of B&B Attachments. The award was presented during the association’s 23rd anniversary for the Awards for Excellence and gala dinner ceremony, on Saturday 4 March 2017, at the International Centre, Telford.

The FLTA Awards for Excellence and gala dinner is the biggest and most prestigious annual event in the Materials Handling Industry’s calendar.

The Board of Directors of the FLTA only awards the Services to the Forklift Truck Industry Award when an individual has made a significant and outstanding contribution to the Materials Handling Industry.

Mike’s career began over 50 years ago when he started his working career as a 16 year old Apprentice with Lansing Bagnall, where he completed a five year engineering apprenticeship, covering all aspects of product design, development and manufacture. It was here where Mike began specifying trucks and attachments for applications, which was later to become his specialism.

It was July 1981, Mike joined the newly-formed B&B Attachments, where his specialist skill set has grown and developed over the years taking the company from a small, Start-up business, to the UK’s leading independent supplier of forklift truck attachments it is known today.

Mike has devoted his entire career to the advancement of the industry. He has demonstrated throughout his life a remarkable ability to build networks, to inspire people and lead. Mike has 50 years of experience in the industry and is still as committed as ever to developing himself, and his specialist field, further.  He is heavily involved with the British Industrial Truck Association and the Forklift Truck Association, and observes any new developments in the field with eagerness and enthusiasm. Although Mike may be approaching the normal age of retirement, he continues to be as dedicated as ever to the industry.

Mike comments, “I am absolutely speechless and privileged to have been awarded this honour. I would like to thank everyone that I have had the pleasure of working with both past and present. I would also like to give a huge thanks to the brilliant and talented team at B&B Attachments for their hard work and continuous drive to push boundaries with innovation and creativity. I look forward to what the future holds for the industry.”
